Witch Bottle #33 - mixed media sculpture

My bottles are filled with things of both entangling and reflective nature. This bottle is about 4 inches tall and is filled with salt, rusted nails, pins, knotted thread, beads, tangled wire and other bits and pieces. The head is sculpted over a permanently sealed top using air dry clay and an altered doll's face. It has been painted with acrylic paints. They wear a crown and a necklace made from cording and a wood-burned pendant.

Traditionally witch bottles were buried under the front step or a fireplace. I recommend placing it on a table or a shelf, especially above a doorway or near a window. Though it could be buried in the traditional manner if so desired.

"The witch bottle is a very old spell device. Its purpose is to draw in and trap evil and negative energy directed at its owner. Folk magic contends that the witch bottle protects against evil spirits and magical attack, and counteracts spells cast by witches." - wikipedia.org
