Witch Bottle #38 - mixed media sculpture
This bottle/jar is about 6.5 inches tall and is filled with salt, fabric flowers, pompoms, scraps of iridescent film & paper, and other distractions. The head and hair has been sculpted over the bottom of a jar using epoxy clay and has been painted with acrylics. She has little antennae made from pins and pink floss. The lid (which now serves as the base) has been sealed with epoxy clay and decorated with iridescent film.
Traditionally witch bottles were buried under the front step or a fireplace. I recommend placing it on a table or a shelf, especially above a doorway or near a window. Though it could be buried in the traditional manner if so desired.
"The witch bottle is a very old spell device. Its purpose is to draw in and trap evil and negative energy directed at its owner. Folk magic contends that the witch bottle protects against evil spirits and magical attack, and counteracts spells cast by witches." - wikipedia.org
