Witch Bottle #48 - mixed media forest spirit sculpture
He was a little upset he wasn't made entirely from wood at first. He settled down after I gave him the pendant.
This bottle is about 5 inches tall and is filled with salt, juniper tips, rusted nails, pins, knotted ribbon, beads, sycamore bark, tangled wire and other bits and pieces. The head is sculpted over a permanently sealed top using air dry clay, and is painted with acrylics. He is wearing a wood burned pendant & a green wrap/poncho made from wool felt.
Traditionally witch bottles were buried under the front step or a fireplace. I recommend placing it on a table or a shelf, especially above a doorway or near a window. Though it could be buried in the traditional manner if so desired.
"The witch bottle is a very old spell device. Its purpose is to draw in and trap evil and negative energy directed at its owner. Folk magic contends that the witch bottle protects against evil spirits and magical attack, and counteracts spells cast by witches." - wikipedia.org
