Witch Bottle #67 - small mixed media sculpture
My bottles are filled with things of both entangling and reflective nature. This little bottle is about 3 inches tall and is filled with salt, rusted nails, shells, beads, glitter, and other bits of distraction. The head is sculpted over a permanently sealed top using air dry clay and has been painted with acrylics. They wear a necklace made from ribbon and an old key.
Traditionally witch bottles were buried under the front step or a fireplace. I recommend placing it on a table or a shelf, especially above a doorway or near a window. Though it could be buried in the traditional manner if so desired.
"The witch bottle is a very old spell device. Its purpose is to draw in and trap evil and negative energy directed at its owner. Folk magic contends that the witch bottle protects against evil spirits and magical attack, and counteracts spells cast by witches." - wikipedia.org
